Insight Radiology offers general xray services at its Takapuna clinic. Appointments are not required although patients with appointments may be seen first if the clinic is busy. You will require a referral note from your medical or healthcare provider.

Xrays are the most frequently performed radiology diagnostic procedure. An xray is a high frequency, high energy wave form that can be picked up on photographic film.

Before the Xray
Please bring your referral note with you. You may also need to bring any previous, relevant xrays.
You will be asked to remove all metal objects from your body. Depending on the part of the body which is being xrayed, you may be asked to change into a gown.

The Xray
You will be asked to remain still in a specific position and may need to hold your breath on command.  Your xray will be performed by an experienced radiographer. The examination time will vary depending on the type of xray required but should not last any longer than 30 minutes.

Post Xray
Your radiographer will ask you to wait while they check the film. Further xrays may be necessary if the area is not shown clearly or the image is unclear. Your xrays will be viewed by an expert radiologist who will provide a report to the person who referred you.  A copy of the xrays will be sent to you. Please keep these in a safe place as they may be useful for comparison in the future.
